There are some open-air museums and reserves on the territory of the republic. One of them is State Natural Reserve “Khakassky” consisting of nine sites which can be easily divided into two groups: mountain-taiga group and steppe group. The sites of the reserve combine almost all landscape and natural parts of Khakassia. For example, a clear fresh lake Itkul is situated on the territory of the reserve which is also known as small Baikal and mountain mass Oglakhty, here is the biggest cluster of ancient petroglyphs.

Victory Day in Abakan

Today 9th May 2016 citizens and guests of the capital of Khakassia, Abakan, celebrate the 71st anniversary of the victory by the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. Festivities are started early in the morning (at 9 a.m.) at the Monument to Military Glory situated in Victory Park. There is held a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to Military Glory.

The Knowledge Day in Abakan

There was the Knowledge Day in the capital of Khakassia, Abakan, on the 1st September 2015. It was sunny and very warm. From the very morning pupils with their parents came to schools, where there were held solemn school assemblies. Teachers and tutors were waiting to see their familiar pupils and glad to meet their new ones.

Town Day in Abakan 2015

Town Day is the only festival in the Republic of Khakassia collecting a lot of people in the streets of Abakan. In 2015 Abakan reached its 84th anniversary. The town was founded in 1931. The celebration is held every year on the last but one Saturday in August.
